Chandidgarh, kulbir kalsi. NCC Group HQ Chandigarh is celebrating NCC week from 21 to 26 Nov 11. Different events have been planned to mark the week and to have maximum participation of cadets. These include Run for Fun, visit to the institute of Blind in Sec 26, the old age home in Sec 15, rallies on Anti Drug, Global Warming, AIDS, Environment Pollution and Cancer Awareness, Painting, Essay writing and Declamation competition and Blood donation Camp. On 21 Nov 100 cadets visited the institute of Blind in Sec 26, offered them fruits and interacted with all the students. More than 100 cadets visited the old age home in Sec 15.
Run for fun at Sukhna Lake today was well received and participated with enthusiasm and zeal by 500 young cadets from schools and colleges. The event was flagged off by Brig Satish Kumar, Cdr, Gp HQ NCC Chandigarh.
Rallies were organised at Sukhna Lake on Anti Drug, Global Warming, AIDS, Environment Pollution and Cancer Awareness wherein 500 cadets participated Painting, Essay writing and Declamation competition were organized today where in maximum cadets participated. All winners in the different category were given prizes.
Blood donation camp is being organized in a private school, Sector 27 on 26th Nov. It will be inaugurated by Brig Satish Kumar, Commander, GpHQ, NCC Chd. All volunteer cadets above 18 yrs, ANOs, PI Staff, Offrsand JCO’s will be donating blood to mark the NCC day. The first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru presided over the function of raising the first NCC Unit at Delhi on the last Sunday of Nov 1948. This day is traditionally celebrated as the 'NCC Day' and a week prior to that is celebrated as NCC Week. National Cadet Corps is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
