Chandigarh Carnival festivities, kishor night with amit kumar and sumit kumar

Chandigarh, kulbir kalsi�On Saturday, the second day of Chandigarh Carnival festivities, the village based on jadunagri theme became a perfect destination for tricity residents, youngsters and visitors to throng to the various activity stalls displaying varied art, foodstalls, amusement park and the Film city based on�Kashmir� valley theme. It was a total atmosphere of Fun n frolic with wonderful weather as backdrop Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi held a Literary Quiz at the Carnival village this morning. The Quiz, conducted by Prof Anil Raina, was open to the public and 6 teams participated for the cash prizes that were bagged by Tanveer , Prateek, Vijay, Ishan, Nishtha and Rohit. The CSA also held a couplet contest. Prizes and souvenirs were given for the best entries. On the concluding day of the Carnival, the CSA will hold Funny Poem / Mini Poem and slogan competitions, themes will be announced on the spot to spring a surprise on the contestants. The�Government Museum�and Art Gallery has put up an Artists Corner in the Carnival Village. Nine artists have been invited for the three days show to give a live art demonstration. These artists are working in Acrylic on Paper. The Museum Shop has been also set up where the museum is selling replicas in Plaster of�Paris: Reproductions of Paintings, Portfolios of Reproductions of Indian Miniature Paintings and Publications. Potter's wheel is also active in one part of stall where people can have hands-on experience of working on a wheel to display their creativity. Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi is organizing On the spot photography competition, everyone above 10 years are allowed to participate on the subject Chandigarh Carnival 2011.the entries are open till 12 noon Sunday. The first prize is for Rs 10,000 whereas second & third are for Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively. Whereas It was an open opportunity for amateur budding artists to explore their singing talent at the Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi stall with melodies old songs. CITCO DA VEHRA, IHM, CIHM were the places to halt at and savour traditional and ethnic food. CITCO DA VEHRA which gives��typical Punjabi look has been���designed with outer mud walls having free hand art work, decorated with colourful buntings. Within the Vehra, there is a���decorated mud house with Chulha. It also has a wooden Machan.��CITCO DA VEHRA is giving a look ofPunjab�Heritage and culture of this region as many traditional heritage items, such as old traditional Gadda (Bullock cart),�Wooden��Madhani��which are not normally seen by the urban population have been���displayed in the CITCO DA VEHRA which gives��an overall Punjabi ambience. The central part of the vehra has��Punjabi style sitting arrangement with traditional Charpai (Manja). The mouth watering ethnic dishes like Makki-ki-Roti -�Sarson Ka Saag,��Chaatti-Di- Lassi and���Gur��Da Halwa, which are being sold at���very reasonable rates��are��the main attraction of the Vehra. CITCO DA Vehra which is giving a typical Punjabi look and��has��been��providing��ethnic Punjabi food in Punjabi ambience��with high quality mouth watering dishes, has��become a source of great attraction for the visitors to Chandigarh Carnival The folk artists across the country brought tradition and folklore alive with their special performances. The small groups of folk dancers of various states spread all over the area and were moving, dancing, in and around the carnival in their traditional attires. The echoes of Dholki, bansuri, dhol, and traditional instruments added merriment. A mini stage was the cynosure of the Carnival village. The youngsters rocked the mini stage on Punjabi and Hindi hits. The performances made by the participants on the spot won rounds of applause by the onlookers.

�The evening would be unveiled with the live performance by Amit Kumar and Sumit Kumar ,son of legendary Kishore Kumar in the evening titled �Kishore Kumar Nostalgia. tomorrow, there will be thunderous Punjabi performance by Harbhajan� Mann at 7 pm at Leisure Valley,��Chandigarh.
