Aawaaz burning the copies of the Lokpal

Chandigarh, kulbir kalsi. Today Civil society group Aawaaz marked its protest by burning the copies of the Lokpal Bill, 2011, at ready market of Sector 19, Chandigarh which was presented in the parliament on 22.12.2011. Representatives of various organizations along with the residents participated in it. Gaurav Goel, advocate an active member of Aawaaz said that government's Lokpal bill is very dangerous as it will make the ombudsman a puppet in the hands of the government. This bill is absolutely weak and would would even effect the states that are willing to have strong lokayuktas. If the  removal, suspension and selection of the Lokpal will be decided by the government then how the Lokpal will work independently. He also demanded that a new bill be brought in Parliament that will make CBI independent and decentralise the proposed anti-corruption body. Jai Varun Giri & Suresh Bhandari described the Lokpal Bill as anti people and dangerous and said that the government thinks that all the citizens are corrupt but the leaders and employees are clean. They said that in Chandigarh a massive movement will be launched to aware the citizens about the flaws/frauds in the present Lokpal Bill,2011. Instead of including politicians, C & D employees under the lokpal, present bill includes citizens, temples, NGOs, trusts etc.Sunil Bansal, an active member of Aawaaz said that this kind of Bill is not at all accepted by the citizens of India and strongly criticized the statement of Lalu Prasad Yadav who made fun of Civil Society as a whole. He further said that its astonishing that those politicians are debating over the bill who themselves are involved in famous corruption charges like Chara Gotala etc. There shall be no question of reservations  in Lokpal. JP Arora, NC goyal, Rakesh, Guruprasad, Kiran Kaur, Sukhjit Kaur, Saurav , Ali were also present there.
